EAST COUNTY — The country’s largest new homebuilder has opened its newest community, Stoneledge.

D.R. Horton celebrated the grand opening of Stoneledge, a 51-home neighborhood tucked off Creekwood Boulevard next to Creekwood Estates, June 21.

“We had a tremendous turnout for the grand opening,” sales agent Tina O’Brien said. “(Sunday) was like the second grand opening. I didn’t sit down before people were coming through (the model home).”

D.R. Horton currently has one model home, The Bedford, open for viewing. It features 2,592 square feet of living space, three bedrooms, two-and-half bathrooms and a loft area. Three other spec homes are under construction and should be ready by September, O’Brien said.

D.R. Horton offers prospective homebuyers five home plans ranging from 1,844 square feet to 3,576 square feet at Stoneledge. Home prices range from about $255,000 to $354,000.

Six other homesites, located off 73rd Street East within Creekwood Estates, also are available, but are not part of the Stoneledge neighborhood, O’Brien said.

“We wanted two entrances in and out of Stoneledge; this allows us that access,” she said. “It makes it better for the people.”

O’Brien said Stoneledge’s location is a major selling point.

“It’s close to the pulse of Lakewood Ranch without having to be involved in CDD fees,” O’Brien said. “It’s 16 miles from the beaches. The location is absolutely fabulous.”

Homes in Stoneledge feature D.R. Horton’s energy efficient designs and include radiant-barrier sheathing in the attic to keep homes 30% cooler, as well as air-conditioning units with a 15-SEER rating. Homes also include hurricane shutters, among other features.
D.R. Horton has been constructing new homes since 1978 and began building in Florida in 2004.

In the East County, the company completed homes in the GreyHawk Landing development. In January, the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners also approved for D.R. Horton to construct the 610-home Del Tierra subdivision, located on the west side of Rye Road south of Upper Manatee River Road.
