Obituary: Paul Carnese Jr.

Paul Carnese Jr., 88, of Falmouth, Mass., and Longboat Key, died June 20.

Born May 21, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Carnese graduated from Bayside High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in Europe with General Patton’s Third Army, 803rd Tank Destroyer Battalion, and Third Army Counter Intelligence Corp.

After his discharge in 1946, Mr. Carnese attended Bucknell University for two years, then New York University, where he received his degree. His career in publishing began as an advertising copywriter for McGraw Hill, then served 17 years with the magazine division. He moved on to Xerox Corp. as vice president and publisher of the magazine division for 10 years. He completed his career as publisher of Dunn & Bradstreet’s medical journals.

Mr. Carnese married his first wife of 50 years, Caroline Moccia Carnese, July 21, 1951. They raised their six children in Long Island, N.Y., and, later, Fairfield, Conn.

He married his second wife, Eleanor Osborne Carnese, Nov. 3, 2001. The couple spent winters on Longboat Key.

Mr. Carnese was predeceased in death by his first wife, Caroline.

He is survived by his second wife, Eleanor; daughters Kathleen, Denise, Paula and Patricia; sons Gregory and Christopher; stepson, John Osborne; sister, Marie Ann Duca; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
