Sarasota among leaders in job growth

Employment in Sarasota County grew 4.9% in 2013, making it one of the leading counties for job growth in the U.S., according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released this month.

Sarasota ranked fifth out of 292 counties that experienced job growth last year. Employment in the U.S. as a whole grew 1.8% from December 2012 to the same month the following year.

Weld, Colo., led the nation with 6% employment growth, while Lee County, Sonoma, Calif. and Douglas, Colo. rounded out the top five large counties.
