Beginning today, a city crew will undertake a multi-week project at Gillespie Park, demolishing the playground equipment and replacing it with updated amenities.
The current equipment is 15-20 years old and needs to be replaced, according to a city press release. A playground for school-aged children and a new “tot lot” will be installed within the next 2-3 weeks. The rubberized ground surface will also be replaced with fiber mulch.
The total cost of the project is approximately $90,000. Gillespie Park is located between Seventh and 10th Street, off of Osprey Avenue or Gillespie Avenue.
