+ Booker boys tennis improves to 7-0
The Booker High boys tennis team defeated Southeast 6-1 March 4.
Nino Coutelle (No. 1), Pablo Sanchez (No. 2), Greg Burstein (No. 3) and Joe Haygood (No. 5) all earned singles victories for the Tornadoes.
Sanchez then teamed up with David Klos for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. Burstein and Haygood posted an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
With the win, the Tornadoes improve to 7-0.
+ Mooney blanks Admiral Farragut
The Cardinal Mooney boys tennis team defeated Admiral Farragut 7-0 March 4.
Andrew Von Johnn, Jesse Maun, Greg Short, Shane Black and Robby Howard all won singles matches for the Cougars.
Von Johnn and Maun also were victorious at No. 1 doubles. Black and Nick Melone were victorious at No. 2 doubles.
+ Sarasota Christian scores district win
The Sarasota Christian softball team defeated Southwest Florida Christian 5-2 in district action March 4.
The Lady Blazers scored three runs in the top of the first inning. McKenzie Lantz opened the game with a walk and then stole second base. Cheyenne Miller added a base hit. Savanna King notched a hit to drive in Lantz and Miller. Audra King reached on a fielder’s choice and came around to score Sarasota Christian’s third run of the inning.
Lantz went 1-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base. Miller went 2-for-4. Audrey Bennett went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Miller picked up the win for Sarasota Christian on the mound, allowing four hits while striking out four.
+ ODA boys lacrosse picks up district win
The Out-of-Door Academy boys lacrosse team defeated St. Stephen’s 15-9 March 5.
Andrew Romano scored five goals to lead the way for the ODA. Ben Martin and Jeremy Herrin each added three goals.
With the win, the Thunder captured its second district victory.

+ Riverview High Boys Track
The Riverview High boys track team scored 199 points to easily win the Manatee Hurricane Invitational March 7 at Manatee High.
Richie James was a triple winner, capturing the 200-meter dash (22.80), long jump (22 feet, 2 inches) and triple jump (43-01).
Sumner Mullins won both the 110 hurdles (16.42) and 300 hurdles (42.60).
Other winners for the Rams include:
