So, you're sticking to your guns and keeping your New Year's resolution to stay fit and healthy. Juicing and protein shakes, packed lunches and taking the stairs instead of the elevator. And believe us, you look good doing it. Now we want to share a few tips on looking your best straight from the gym. Here's a checklist from the must-haves in your essential bag to some quick styles for the girl on the go.
First of all, I always have two bags with me when I head to the gym: one for my clothes and one for my little bag of goodies. I keep them separated so there's no leaky mishaps to worry about.
What you'll need:
Using your brush and a hair dryer on a cool setting, get all dampness out of your hair. Tipping your head upside down will also help to increase volume. Dry shampoos can not only rid your hair of dirt and grime, they can also eliminate odor and take away sheen, so make sure you use them sparingly, building as you go as to not create a dry or powdery look. There are so many types of dry shampoos you can purchase, some powder, some aerosol. I prefer an aerosol just for the ease of application (powders tend to make more of a mess).
Now that your hair is dry, take sections, starting at the base of your neck, and spray at the root with the dry shampoo. Do this everywhere you have an excess of oil. You can either use your fingers to massage it into your hair, or you can brush through it with your wide-bristle brush, so you evenly distribute the dry shampoo.
A dry shampoo is also a great way to increase volume in you hair. Now would be the perfect time to back-comb your bangs, pin them back and finish your look with a messy, high ponytail that would look great at the office or in a t-shirt and Converses.
If you're going for a softer, pretty look, plug in your clipless curling iron. While that's heating up, section your hair onto 1" to 2" sections, starting at the bottom of your head. Spritz each section with a heat-styling spray and wrap the hair around the iron. The bigger the section of hair, the looser the curl or wave you will get. I prefer using the clipless iron as opposed to the traditional curling iron, because you get a more natural, organic-looking wave. Finish off your look by hitting it with a light working spray with humidity control.
Now all you need is a post-workout shake, your cutest pair of Louboutins, and you're ready to stomp your way into that board meeting like you own the place!
