+ Bradenton Speedway welcomes new owners
After about a year of owning Full Throttle Speedway, formerly known as Desoto Speedway, owner Richard Chase has sold the property for about $1.1 million.

Clearwater-based Desoto Speedway LLC purchased the roughly 63-acre property at 21000A State Road 64 E., Bradenton.

During the last year, Chase and co-owner Kevin Williams revamped various parts of the speedway, including the racetrack, beer bar and staff members’ offices.

Williams thought a facelift for the 3/8-mile oval track would bring in new demographics of racing fans in East County, he said.

+ Select GreyHawk amenities closed for renovations
For at least six weeks, certain amenities in the GreyHawk Landing community will remain closed.
Construction teams started working March 13 to remodel certain common areas.

Areas to be overhauled include: the pool, which will be resurfaced; the Play and Spray structure, which will be removed, renovated and replaced; and the deck area around the lagoon-style pool, with a water slide, waterfalls and spa, which also is being repaired.

The tennis and basketball courts, fishing dock and all other amenities in the area remain available for use.

Staff members of GreyHawk Landing said repairs fall within Manatee County schools’ spring break schedule — the only time vendors’ and contractors’ schedules coincided.

Residents will be notified when the amenities will be available for use.
