Janice Brown, 74, of Columbus, Ohio, and Bradenton, died March 1.
Born Dec. 9, 1939, in Columbus, Mrs. Brown attended St. Mary of the Springs Academy.
She married Roger Brown Jan. 17, 1958, and the couple lived in Columbus. They moved around to various cities in the Midwest and in 2011, they began dividing their time between Bradenton and Longboat Key and Prescott, Ariz.
Mrs. Brown was a devoted Christian, avid reader and gifted decorator. She loved flowers, nature and traveling.
She was a strong advocate of helping the homeless and disadvantaged. She recently volunteered with local charitable stores and food programs, including St. Stephen’s Community Thrift Store, Salvation Army and Project Open Door.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roger; sons, Hugh and Douglas; daughter, Leanne; sister, Carolyn Souders; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and her dog, Bruno.
A private celebration of Mrs. Brown’s life will be held in Bradenton for friends and family.
