+ SCS beats Booker in five innings
The Sarasota Christian softball team improved to 4-1 with a 12-2 victory over Booker in five innings March 15.
Cheyenne Miller pitched three innings, allowing one hit while striking out four. Devyn Mulligan pitched the final two innings for the Lady Blazers, allowing one hit while striking out two.
Alyssa Miller went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the way for Sarasota Christian at the plate.
McKenzie Clark went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Miller went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Audra King went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Kayte Sepper hit a double to lead the way for Booker.
+ Riverview Rams run wild at meet
The Riverview High boys and girls track teams both posted impressive finishes at the 5th annual USF/George Steinbrenner Invitational March 15.
The boys team scored 28 points to finish sixth in the 45-team field while the girls team finished 19th.
Individuals placing in the top 10 include:

+ Sarasota Sailors remain unbeaten
Sam Carillo went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Sarasota High baseball team to an 11-1 victory over Braden River in Class 7A-District 10 action March 14.
Mason Dancer went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Pitcher Evan Mendoza allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out three in four innings of work.
+ ODA baseball sweeps Mooney
The Out-of-Door Academy baseball team completed a regular-season sweep of rival Cardinal Mooney with a 5-2 victory in Class 3A-District 10 action March 15.
Austin Hoppe pitched a complete game, allowing three hits while striking out five.
Parke Phillips hit a double and scored a run in the first inning. Jake Romine added a two-run double in the fifth inning.
Cardinal Mooney pitcher Josh Bonynge struck out eight and walked two. Christian Maglich had an RBI single for the Cougars in the second inning.
+ ODA swings past Admiral Farragut
The Out-of-Door Academy boys tennis team defeated Admiral Farragut 7-0 March 11.
Vaughn Garcia (No. 1), Jose Juncosa (No. 2), Matt Jones (No. 3), Janum Trivedi (No. 4) and Jon Eichenbaum (No. 5) all earned singles victories for the Thunder. Garcia and Jones then teamed up for a victory in No. 1 doubles. Trivedi and Juncosa were victorious at No. 2 doubles.

+ Sarasota Military Academy
The Sarasota Military Academy wrestling team held its end-of-the-season banquet March 6 following its first year of postseason eligibility.
Junior Connor Steinfeld received the Most Valuable Wrestler award, which is awarded to the wrestler who scores the most team points. Steinfeld also received a Captain Award and the Dan Gable Award, which is in recognition of outstanding dedication to the pursuit of excellence.
Steinfeld also received a silver cup with the words “state placer,” while fellow junior Billy Sadlo received a silver cup with the words “state qualifier.”
Junior Xavier Miller received the Colonel Saputo award, which is awarded to the wrestler who never gives up and continues to work hard.
Finally, Logan Gow received a Captain Award for his dedication and leadership.
In its first year of postseason eligibility, SMA sent eight wrestlers to the regional tournament and two to the state tournament.
