The departure of East County's Sam Woolf from season 13 of "American Idol" opened more doors for the teenager than it closed.
Since he received the lowest number of votes and was eliminated from the singing competition May 1, the teenager has a been interviewed, traveled back to Bradenton for a night to see his friends, and, this morning, made his debut on morning talk show "Live! With Kelly and Michael."
"It was really cool getting to be on the show and to talk to them," Woolf said.
Woolf will return to his hometown later this week, and will head back to Los Angeles May 11, to practice for the "American Idol" two-part finale, May 19 and May 20.
He also plans to attend his high school graduation May 31, before leaving for the American Idol Live! tour June 24.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale May 9, and will be available at americanidol.com/tour.
Watch Woolf perform on the show's finale at 8 p.m., May 19 and May 20, on FOX.
