High five moments of the week

1 - Cardinal Mooney senior Grace Casagrande crossed the finish line in 11 minutes, 1.54 seconds to win the 3,200-meter run at the Class 1A State Track and Field Championships.

2 - Lakewood Ranch freshman Sophia Falco earned her first individual state medal, finishing fourth in the long jump at the Class 3A State Track and Field Championships.

3 - East County resident Becca Banks, who will play soccer for Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C., next year, was one of 14 St. Stephen’s student-athletes who were recognized during a school-wide ceremony May 1.

4 - The Lakewood Ranch High softball team defeated Tarpon Springs East Lake 3-1 in the Class 7A-Region 3 semifinals April 29 to earn a berth in the regional finals May 5.

5 - ODA’s Tre Gregory cleared 13 feet to finish fourth at the Class 1A State Track and Field Championships.
