Wanted: shelled companion to enjoy all Siesta has to offer.

Siesta Key residents along the Grand Canal have a new neighbor, Mr. T the gopher tortoise. Mr. T first appeared a month ago by the canal and has since made his way into the hearts of his neighbors.

“He’s very congenial,” says resident Betsy Ball.

Ball and her neighbors believe Mr. T is lonely and looking for someone with whom to share his adventures. Ball hopes Siesta Key visitors and residents will drive carefully through Siesta Key, because many tortoises find themselves on the sides of roads.

“I hope he finds true love,” says Ball, “and lives happily ever after.”
