The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

May 8
 Checking accounts

11:16 a.m. — 27000 block of State Road 64 E. Scheme to Defraud (More Than $50,000). The unknown suspects texted the victim in reference to her jewelry business. The unknown suspects(s) sent the victim a check that she deposited into her account. After sending the remaining balance back to the suspect, the victim discovered the original check had been extracted from her account, leaving her out of money.

May 13
 Metal matters

7:16 p.m. — 6300 217th St. E. Information Only. The complainant reported the metal hook she had just purchased to support her fence had broken. The complainant wanted to report the incident for informational purposes only.

May 16
 Jewelry heist

12:25 p.m. — 14000 block of Stirling Drive. Theft from a Building. The victim stated that unknown suspect(s) removed an $18,000 gold twisted-rope bracelet from her bedroom bureau sometime between March 6 and May 2. She recently moved into a new residence, and there have been two work teams in and out of the home completing repairs.

May 18
 Rocky road

10:20 p.m. — 5000 block of Lorraine Road. Information Only. The complainant was driving southbound on Lorraine Road when he observed two juveniles on the roadway. As he drove by, one of the juveniles picked up an unknown object and threw it at the front of the vehicle. The youth then ran eastbound. The victim stopped his vehicle and then chased the juveniles on foot but only caught one of them. The other juvenile could not be located after a search, although the apprehended juvenile took the deputy to that child’s home. The victim did not find evidence of damage to his vehicle, but wanted the incident documented.

May 19
 Return Policy

9:46 a.m. — 36000 State Road 70 E. Found Property. While patrolling the area, a Waste Pro employee found a driver’s license and gave it to a deputy he saw. The employee found the license on the road.

Scooter stall
3:05 p.m. — 8100 27th St. E. Abandoned Autos. While patrolling, the deputy observed a blue motor scooter propped up against a telephone pole along the side of the road. The rear tire was flat. The tag and battery was missing and appeared as if it had been abandoned there. The deputy ran the VIN through Teletype with negative results. A sergeant approved the towing of the vehicle.
