In the days leading up to Thanksgiving the Gulf Gate Rotary Club continues the tradition of giving with a donation to the Child Protection Center.

On Tuesday, packages of food for 75 local families arrived at the Child Protection Center to be unloaded and donated to local families in need. Each package included enough food to feed a family of four for an entire week.

“I can hardly lift the box,” said Lorry Horn a Gulf Gate Rotary Club member who volunteered to unload the boxes.

The boxes are more than 20 lbs. each and include a 12-14 lbs. frozen turkey, a loaf of bread, fresh eggs, butter and non perishable food items. The packages will be picked up and distributed throughout the day and all-day on Wednesday.

This is my favorite day,” Staley said. “Literally, we’ll have moms and dads with tears in their eyes because without this they wouldn’t have a Thanksgiving. The pure joy in their faces is why I do it.”
