We’re making our list and checking it twice.

Want to make our nice list? Then show your holiday spirit for the Longboat Observer’s annual “Light Up the Key” competition.

This year, our staff will once again scour the Key for the best and brightest holiday lights and displays.

Plenty of residents and properties regularly show the spirit of the season with their festive decorations. (See our “Deck the Hall of Fame” at right.) But we’re looking for new properties to add tinsel to this town and give these bright lights a healthy dose of competition.

Judging will take place from Dec. 8 through Dec. 11. The top five properties will receive a to-be-determined prize, along with bragging rights that come with being featured in the Longboat Observer. We’ll announce the winners in our Dec. 18 issue.

Consider this a challenge to up the ante this season. It’s a matter we don’t take lightly. Email nominations, with addresses, to Staff Writer Kristen Herhold, [email protected].

Neighboring Beachplace and Promenade condominiums have developed a friendly competition over the years to be the best and brightest communities.
