The Sarasota Observer talked with students from Bay Haven School of Basics Plus, Southside Elementary and First Presbyterian Preschool. They shared their Thanksgiving traditions, what they are thankful for and their favorite pie flavors.

Thanksgiving family traditions: “We eat turkey and have a giant feast.”

Favorite flavor of pie: “I’ve never tried pie.”

What happened at the first Thanksgiving: “So the Indians met the pilgrims, and the Indians taught them how to grow crops like corn.”

Thankful for: “I’m thankful for my family.”

Thanksgiving family traditions: “We’re going to my grandma’s. My uncle Alan cooks macaroni and turkey. I love to have ice pops when we’re done eating.”

Favorite flavor of pie: Pumpkin

Thanksgiving family traditions: “We celebrate Thanksgiving by eating a big dinner with turkey stuffing. We watch the parade.”

Favorite flavor of pie: Pecan

What happened at the first Thanksgiving: “The Indians and pilgrims had a big feast.”

Thankful for: “My family, my house and food.”

Thanksgiving family traditions: “Well we don’t really celebrate it because my brother’s birthday is on Thanksgiving. We’re going up to Crystal River to celebrate his birthday.”

Favorite flavor of pie: “I’ve never had pie in my life.”

What happened at the first Thanksgiving: “Everybody got together for a big feast.”

Thankful for: “My family.”

Thanksgiving family traditions: “My mom and dad decorate a dog [statue] with a turkey and we cook turkey. Mallory comes over; she’s my cousin.”
