It's that holiday time, and I know our guests love when I bring out the flavors of chocolate and peppermint — especially in a glass to toast.

Candy canes might hang on the tree, rest in your stocking or be sent by a secret Santa. But now I've found the perfect way to infuse that fresh, sweet flavor into a holiday cocktail.

The best part? You don't even have to wait for Christmas for this festive treat.

Infusing your own candy cane vodka

You'll need:

  • 1 bottle vodka
  • 6 large candy canes, crushed

Place candy canes in a large jar with a tight-fitting lid.

Pour preferred vodka into jar, give it a good hearty shake and store in a cool dark room for two days, shaking once daily.

Peppermint Patty Martini

You'll need:

  • 2 oz. candy cane or peppermint-infused vodka
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • 1 ½ oz half-and-half or liquid ice cream

Pour over ice.

Shake and strain into chilled martini glass and garnish with a peppermint patty.
