Sarasota Military Academy is making sure that veterans are not forgotten this holiday season.

An estimated 8,000 graves at Sarasota National Cemetery will be decorated with a wreath Dec. 13. Students, parents and volunteers from the community will be helping to lay wreaths on graves.

To complete the mission, SMA is collecting funds to finance the operation with a donation drive. A individual donation of $15 sponsors one wreath, and a family donation of $60 sponsors four wreaths.
Special instructions can be given to have a wreath placed on a specific gravesite as long as the veteran’s name, burial section and site are included. The final day to make donations is Saturday, Nov. 29.

A ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 13 to commemorate veterans before volunteers begin laying wreaths down. Anyone is welcome to volunteer.

Donations can be made by calling 866-973-2847 or visiting waasarasota.com.
