Lakewood Ranch developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch has moved to continue a public hearing on proposed changes to its University Lakes Development of Regional Impact.

The proposal was slated to go before the Manatee County Commission Thursday. It is now slated for the Nov. 6 land-use meeting.

SMR has requested several changes to the DRI, but neighboring homeowners have opposed plans to allow a seven-level building adjacent to Lakewood Ranch Cinemas. The parcel previously was slated for four five-level condominium buildings.

County approvals would allow the construction of up to 10 levels for a hotel or office use at that site.

Caleb Grimes, the attorney representing SMR on the project, said the company had requested the continuance, but declined to comment on the reason why.
