Jessica Salmond, staff writer, is a Missouri native and graduated in May from the University of Missouri. Upon completing school and living through too many “snowpocalypses,” she decided she did not want to see snow ever again.

When she’s not reporting on Sarasota County government or attending Siesta Key Association meetings, Salmond likes to enjoy good wine and good company, which includes her cat, June. She also enjoys traveling and hopes to start seeing more of the local sights. Email county news tips to [email protected].

Amanda Morales, staff writer, is a native Floridian who has lived on both coasts. She grew up in Palm Beach before moving to Englewood in 2005. Recently Morales graduated from the journalism program at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where she also studied political science.

If she’s not busy taking photos she tries to get out and kayak, swim or snorkel as much as possible. Cooking and baking are her passions, and in her spare time she likes to try new recipes. Email community news and event announcements as well as story ideas to [email protected].
