Obituary: Irwin 'Win' Katz

Irwin “Win” Katz, 81, of Longboat Key and Greenport, N.Y., died Sept. 6.

Born July 23, 1933, Mr. Katz grew up in New York and graduated from New York University. He served as the director of sales for Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics and retired in 1992. After his retirement, he enjoyed boating in both Gardiners Bay, Long Island, in the summers and Sarasota Bay in the winters.

Mr. Katz volunteered at Mote Marine Aquarium and Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed photography, target shooting, gardening, building models, flying radio-controlled airplanes, playing golf and the simple beauty of the sun setting on the Gulf of Mexico

Mr. Katz is survived by his wife, Loretta; son, Zusha; daughter, Melanie Horn; and seven grandchildren.
