Friday, Oct. 10

  • The Rocky Horror Show — takes place at 8 p.m. at the Venice Theatre. This classic kicks off tonight and runs through Nov. 2. Show times vary. $28 for adults and $15 for students.
  • WOBtoberfest — takes place from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at World of Beer, Sarasota. Join World of Beer in their largest annual celebration, featuring live music, games, German food. Sponsored by BMW and benefiting Mothers Helping Mothers. Free.
  • The Mix Tapes — takes place at 8:30 p.m. at The Blue Rooster. Catch this three-piece rock ’n' roll act for their first local show since the winter. $10.

Saturday, Oct. 11

  • Music Festival and Pig Roast — takes place from 11 a..m. to 6 p.m. at Linger Lodge Restaurant. Enjoy this collaboration between Linger Lodge and Big Top Brewing Company to the tune of local and regional musicians. $15.
  • ALSO Gala: Prom — takes place at 6 p.m. at The Francis. Get gussied up and celebrate prom your way in support of ALSO Youth. Event includes cocktails, dinner and dancing throughout the evening. Cocktail attire. Featuring Master of Ceremonies, Joey Panek, DJ Richy Rain and a photo booth with complimentary souvenir photos. $125
  • YPG and S-One Rock For a Cause — takes place from 3 to 10 p.m. in downtown Sarasota, Palm Ave. Vote for your favorite of six local bands competing for a chance to win $1,500 in prize money and $3,500 to donate to a local school of their choice. Event will include family friendly atmosphere, kids' zone and beer tents for adults. $1 or school-supply donation.
  • 5K Zombie Run — takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Benderson Park. Get fit while outrunning zombies at this inaugural nighttime run. $90 or $45 with online early bird discount.

Sunday, Oct. 12

  • Firehouse Chili Cook Off — takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. at Morton's Gourmet Market. Enjoy this 15th annual chili cook off, which pits local firehouses against one another to see who can really bring the heat. Free.
