Hot dog
4:36 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Animal. Police responded to a call about a German shepherd locked inside a parked Jaguar outside a grocery store. The man was returning to his car when the officer arrived. The car was parked in the shade with its windows rolled half way down. The man went inside for five minutes and said he knew the dangers of leaving a dog inside a hot car.

OCT. 1
Look of guilt
11:33 a.m. — 1900 block of GMD. Larceny. A woman ran inside her condo when it began to rain and she forgot her iPhone by the pool. When she came back an hour later, the phone was gone, and she called police. She said she saw a mysterious person in the vicinity who looked out of place because of how he was dressed, however, police couldn’t locate the man or phone.

Mower madness
12:16 p.m. — 500 block of Jungle Queen Way. Parking. A woman said her neighbor’s landscaper was illegally parked across the street from her driveway. She also said grass clippings were being scattered on her property. When the officer arrived, the truck was still parked in the same place, and the officer told the woman it was not illegal for him to park there, however, he saw there was cut grass on her property. The landscaper told police he has a history with the woman and that he would try to park further down the street.

OCT. 4
Make like a tree and leave
12:04 a.m. — 6800 block of Hughes Street. Soliciting. Two men knocked on a woman’s door and said they wanted to talk to her about the seagrape tree in her front yard. She made up an excuse for why they could not enter and dismissed them. When the officer called the number on their business card, the man who answered hung up immediately. Officers searched the area but could not find the men.

OCT. 6
Domestic disturbance
2:26 a.m. — 500 block of Ketch Lane. Disturbance. Police heard yelling and saw two taxis parked near Gulf of Mexico Drive. One woman and three men were standing near one of the taxis. The woman told the officer she wanted to get her dog and car keys out of the house nearby, but the homeowner was intoxicated and was not cooperating. The woman had bruises but denied she was battered. She retrieved her belongings and left.

OCT. 7
Communication breakdown
4:25 p.m. — 4800 block of GMD. Property Damage. A man drove his Buick into his condo’s storage unit when his foot slipped off the brake. The property manager thought the driver had filed a report but called police after learning that he and his wife were away on a cruise and the insurance company still needed a report.
