Members of the Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club enjoyed an fun-filled evening at McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre Sept. 24. A longtime Sarasota resident and the club’s co-owner, Les McCurdy, started off the evening with comments about the beginnings of Lakewood Ranch.

“One day there was a pasture with cows, the next there was ‘The Ranch’ with hundreds of houses, apartments, and shopping centers all in two shades of beige.”

Following that introduction, comedian Carl Labove brought guests to tears with laughter.
