Injury-free manatee
7: 15 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Boat/Misc. Beachgoers reported a manatee that was possibly injured and had a scar across its back. The officer determined the manatee wasn’t injured.

Hospitality heist?
5:48 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Suspicious Circumstance. A resort security guard said a woman drove off after placing a toaster and bag of bed linens into the back of a Jeep. The guard was uncertain whether the items were stolen from a guest room or belonged to a unit owner. Police did not find anyone who matched the description.
Oct. 10
When life gives you limes …
5:20 p.m. — 100 block of GMD. Warrants. Police confronted two men drinking Coronas in a public park in violation of town ordinance and found that one man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Police handcuffed him and transported him to Sarasota County Jail.
Safety first
4:46 p.m. — Off the Key. Boat Violation. Two teenagers on Jet Skis were unable to produce their safe boating cards when police stopped them. Police escorted them back to the Coquina boat ramp, where the officer told the Jet Skis’ owner that no one should operate the vessels without having first taken proper safety courses.

Suspension snub
10:14 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Traffic. A license plate camera alerted police that the owner of a Cadillac had a suspended license. The driver said he knew that his license had been revoked but decided to drive anyway. The officer told the driver to call someone to pick up the vehicle and issued him a citation.

Need for speed
8:04 p.m. — 2000 block of GMD. Warrants. A man reported a possible stolen vehicle. The caller said his girlfriend had taken his car and was gone for too long. He got angry when police said they needed to make contact with his father, the vehicle’s registered owner. Police discovered the man had a warrant for his arrest in New Jersey for possession of methamphetamines. Police returned to the residence and took him to the Sarasota County Jail.
Lost and found
5:54 p.m. — Intersection of Gulf of Mexico Drive and Bay Isles Parkway. Property Found. Police found a set of keys containing a Nissan vehicle key fob, a Shapes membership card and a pink leather tassel lying in an intersection. The officer brought the property to the police station.
Catch my driftwood
7:44 p.m. — 600 block of Putter Lane. Boat. A piece of a man’s dock began to drift into the bay. He told police that a 4x4 board broke loose and began to float away an hour earlier; the last time he saw the piece, it was nearly 150 feet offshore and headed east. Police searched for an hour but were unable to locate it.
