Lions, tigers and bears — oh my! Seriously, Big Cat Habitat, located on Palmer Road, has it all.
Big Cat Habitat is a nonprofit rescue organization that saves animals from overcrowded circuses, unsafe or abusive conditions, or from exotic pet owners who can no longer take care of them. I visited the nonprofit for my most recent day trip, and they have quite the variety of animals.
Aside from the obvious big cats, Big Cat Habitat is also home to bears, tortoises, monkeys, goats, camels, chimpanzees and a wide variety of birds and other native and exotic animals of all sizes.
One of the most exciting parts about the visit was the opportunity to interact with some of the animals. You can pet and feed the goats, feed the tigers and lions through their cages and even feed the bears hot dogs.
In an effort to raise money to take care of its inhabitants, Big Cat Habitat creates a safe and fun way to interact with animals you wouldn't normally have the chance to meet.
Located so close to I-75, this makes a perfect day trip with the family to see some beautiful animals.
