Manatee County School Board members will again open their ears to constructive criticism for the greater good.

At 5:45 p.m. Oct. 28, Shinn and Co. — the firm hired to open the school district's books and examine its policies and procedures to avoid future fines from auditors — will present the board with a report on human resources and payroll, IT and contracts procedures.

The company has worked with the district for more than six months to help correct the issues that led to the $7 million audit findings that cost the district in May. Financial mismanagement from 2005 through 2012 led to the removal of the dollars from the general fund.

The School Board will meet at 215 Manatee Ave. W. The meeting is open to the public, as is the board workshop, which will be held from 3 to 4 p.m.
