The senior scored from a yard out with 13 seconds left in regulation to cap a 60-yard drive and give Lakewood Ranch the victory. Rex finished with nearly 150 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

Braden River vs. Palmetto
Braden River and Palmetto sit tied atop the Class 7A-District 10 standings at 3-0. The Pirates and Tigers both clinched playoff berths last Friday with victories against North Port and Sarasota, respectively.
The winner will claim the district title and will be home for its regional semifinal Nov. 14.

The Braden River Pirates are headed back to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
The Pirates earned a berth in the Class 7A playoffs with a 42-14 victory against North Port in Class 7A-District 10 action Oct. 24.
Braden River scored five touchdowns in the first half to take a 35-7 lead at halftime. The Pirates scored their final touchdown on the opening kickoff of the second half on defensive back Davion Banks’ 88-yard kickoff return.
With the win, Braden River improved to 7-0 (3-0 7A-10) for the first time in school history.
“It’s a tremendous testament to the hard work that our players and coaches have put in over the last three years,” coach Curt Bradley says. “This is a huge step in the right direction for our program.”
The Pirates will host Palmetto for the 7A-10 title Oct. 31.
