Spice Bay, a gated community on Siesta Key, will be growing by four.

London Bay Homes, a Naples and Sarasota homebuilder, purchased four estate lots in the Spice Bay community this week.

Spice Bay is a bayside community on Siesta Key off of Midnight Pass Road with 14 parcels. Five houses are currently built in the community.

Two bayfront homes will be built at between 4,000 and 5,000 square feet, and the other two homes will be a little smaller at 3,000 to 4,000 square feet. Land values for both bayfront spots are estimated at $1.3 million, according to the Sarasota County property appraiser. The sites are about a half-acre each.

Construction will begin in spring 2015 with completion by the end of 2015.

The home designs will reflect a “classic, clean” West Indies style, which usually features a second floor open balcony, large open rooms and abundant natural light.

“The design … works extremely well in waterfront settings,” Wilson said.

London Bay Homes also builds custom estate homes and villas in Sarasota’s Founders Club and The Lake Club in Lakewood Ranch. The homebuilder plans to expand into the Sarasota market with its custom homebuilding on individual homesites, called its “on your lot” program.

“Sarasota has a vibrant real estate market,” Wilson said. “Sarasota is a good fir for London Bay Homes.”
