Traditionally, Labor Day means the end of summer. Apparently, Mother Nature hasn't received the message. Anyone else over the 90-something degree weather we’re still having?

Labor Day is also considered the last acceptable day to wear white until next summer. Does anyone know why? And why just white? Why not all summer bright colors or pastels? It just makes no sense. And rules are meant to be broken anyway! So not only are we wearing white today, we'll also be enjoying some tasty white drinks well past Labor Day that we discovered from two local hotspots.

  • 1 ½ oz. Stoli Razberi Vodka
  • ½ oz. White Creme de Cacoo
  • 2 oz. Godiva White Chocolate Liquor

Garnish with raspberries sprinkled with white sugar powder

While at Michael’s bar, the request for a white drink was overheard by Kim Lemke, area sales manager for Ocean Properties. When asked what we were up to, she suggested the Coconut Martini from Tommy Bahama. Not only was she right about the color, but the taste was absolutely fabulous. Two hours later, that yummy flavor was still lingering. And we’ve been back several times since that initial visit. Like, seriously, every day since. That good. And if you go during their daily 4 to 6 p.m. happy hour, they're only $7!

Regardless of your Labor Day traditions, we hope it was filled with plenty of good cheer —and don't be afraid to bend the rules a little bit.
