Nathan Benderson Park is one of the newest parks in town, and it's quickly becoming one of the biggest and most popular. This park is transforming into a great place to run or walk as they continue to build and grow this park! The pathways are wide, long and smooth, which offer perfect conditions for longboarding.

One new trend that's picking up here is land paddling, which is basically like paddle boarding in the water, but instead you're on a longboard on the ground.

A local paddle and skateboard company, Fishplanx, recently let me try out their boards and showed me how to land paddle. It's tons of fun and a great workout. I know standing on a board with wheels can be intimidating if you've never tried it before, but the paddle helps keep your balance and keep the momentum going on the board.

The best conditions at Nathan Benderson Park are in the mornings and evenings, as the sun is way too midday. We went out around 7 p.m. to get a nice view of the Sarasota sunset over the trees. I'm excited to see this park grow along with the community in the University Park area.
