This year, the Emmy Awards showed a slightly more patriotic side of Hollywood. Other than the handful of emerald greens and fuchsias, the red carpet was star spangled with red, white and blue hues.
There was a fair share of Greek goddesses on the red carpet this year. And one of the hottest trends was the absence of color, as displayed, ironically, by the ladies of "Orange Is The New Black." Taylor Schilling was definitely at the tip top of my best-dressed list with her deco-inspired nude beaded gown by Zuhair Murad Couture. Then there was the always stunning Laverne Cox. Not only did she arrive in a gorgeous custom Marc Bouwer white gown that draped over her curves, the dress was also complete with a fierce train fascinated with diamond broaches, accentuated only by a soft smokey eye and middle-part up style.
"Orange Is The New Black" was on a roll all night with another gorgeous ensemble worn by none other than Crazy Eyes herself, Uzo Aduba. She wowed in a glamorous red gown by Christian Siriano, and I cannot get enough of the ruffled, cascading train! Aduba completed her outfit with a brilliant braided bun and neutral makeup.
January Jones, of "Mad Men," slayed in her Prabal Gurung dress and sexy Christian Louboutins. But my hands-down favorite red number of the night belongs to Claire Danes (the original inspiration behind my red hair and perpetual teenage angst). She was a vision in red with her Givenchy Haute Couture gown, adorned with simple, elegant Lorraine Schwarts jewelry and the beautiful Hugh Dancy on her arm. Swoon.
There were quite a few sexy blue hues on the red carpet as well. From Natasha Lyonnes' adorable dress with beautiful, classic lines designed by Opening Ceremony, to one half of the most beautiful couple on the red carpet: Matthew McConaughey. The dapper looking McConaughey wore a custom blue and black Dolce & Gabbana suit, while his wife, Camila Alves, wowed in a see-through, white embellished gown by Zuhair Murad.
