THIRSTY THIEF
9:41 a.m. — 1400 block of First Street. Trespassing — All Other. A man took a can of soda from a grocery store and left the store without paying for the item. The store’s loss-prevention officer stopped the man and allowed him to pay for the item but wanted a trespass warning issued to the man. The loss-prevention officer issued the warning to the man with a police officer serving as a witness.

TIRED OUT
3:15 p.m. — 2300 block of Bahia Vista Street. Burglary — Structure. A man said someone burglarized his shed and stole two wheels and tires. The man said he was moving out and had returned to retrieve the remaining items only to discover they were missing. The shed was not secured with any locks, just closed shut. The tires and wheels were valued at $100 each.

BILL OF RIGHTS
4:06 p.m. — 2400 block of Eighth Street. Miscellaneous Officer. An anonymous complainant reported multiple non-residents were in the pool area. Officers made contact with three women at the pool. The women said they do not live at the apartment but that they have a friend named Bill who lives there. They said Bill was not at home at the time. Officers, skeptical about the validity of their claim, informed the subjects they were not allowed on the premises without Bill present. The women left the area without further incident.

DUDE, WHERE’S MY CAR?
5 p.m. — 4900 block of Bradenton Road. Motor Vehicle Theft. A man lent a car to the mother of his children so she could go to the store. The woman didn’t return the vehicle, despite several attempts from the man to make contact. The man eventually received a text message from her informing him the car was at a hotel. The man went to the hotel but was unable to locate the car. The man wanted to prosecute for the theft of the vehicle and said he believed the vehicle was in Bradenton. About an hour later, the man reported he located his vehicle at a different hotel. He said he still wanted to prosecute the woman for theft.

DOG GONE
6:55 p.m. — 1900 block of Grove Street. Animal Nuisance. An officer was dispatched to a residence after receiving a report about a dog at large. A man said his neighbor’s dog was running around his yard. The neighbor apologized for his dog getting out but assured the officer the dog was not aggressive. Officers issued the neighbor a citation.
