Section of Legacy Trail closed until next week

The section of Legacy Trail from Culverhouse Park to Palmer Ranch Parkway will be closed through September 12 due to an emergency sewer main repair.

Public Utilities crews responded to calls about overflowing sewer manholes, and discovered Tuesday that about 100 feet of the 20-inch sewer line on the trail needs to be replaced, according to a press release from the county.

The pipe is 15 feet underground, which makes the repair challenging, the release said. DeJonge Excavation Co. has been contracted to make the repair.

The release stated that bicyclists or pedestrians who are using the trail can detour around this closed section as it is near the northern entrance.
