+ Riverview High Cross-Country
The Riverview High girls cross-country team scored 77 points to win the Lecanto Invitational Sept. 6.
Jessica Lonas finished fourth in 20 minutes, 4.58 seconds to lead the way for the Lady Rams. Robyn Natherson was sixth (20:40.82), followed by Elayna Goodman (10th, 21:08.46) and Michaelie Grajalez (16th, 21:47.49).
On the boys side, Riverview scored 139 points to finish third. Warran Grajalez finished second overall with a time of 16:26.24. Teammate Blake Riley finished third in 16:30.29, followed by Matthew Berman (13th, 17:29.29).
+ Riverview volleyball sweeps Braden River
The Riverview High volleyball team defeated Braden River 25-11, 25-14, 25-13 in non-district action Sept. 4.
Ashley Allmer powered the Lady Rams with 35 assists and seven kills. Kenzie Walker added 14 kills and 13 digs. Sam Norden contributed 21 digs, and Allie Allmer added seven digs and three aces.
+ Sailors boys golf team swings past Hurricanes
The Sarasota High boys golf team defeated Manatee 89-99 in a match Sept. 3 that was shortened to five holes due to lightning.
Ben Tortorice shot 20 to lead the way for the Sailors. Logan Finlay and Cody Chupp each shot 21. Parker Spence added a 27.
Richard Bennett shot 21 to lead the way for Manatee. Moe Wood shot 23, followed by Robby Tingler (26) and Hale Innocente and Harrison Fuller who both shot 29.
+ Registration now open for golf lesson program
Early registration is now available for the Sarasota Golf Improvement Initiative.
The new three-month program, created by Sarasota teaching professional Tim Conaway, gives students the opportunity to take unlimited lessons at a reduced rate. Additionally, the student who improves the most will win a custom fit TaylorMade driver of their choice.
Early registration for the program, which will be held from October through December, runs through Sept. 20.
Conaway is a part of the Barry Cheesman Golf Academy at Tatum Ridge Golf Links and has more than 10 years of teaching experience.

+ ODA tops Braden River
The Out-of-Door Academy girls golf team swung past Braden River 186-231 Sept. 3, at the River Club golf course.
Wendy Tan shot 39 to lead the way for the Lady Thunder. Lexi Murphy shot 45, followed by M’Balia Bangoura (47) and Christy Wyatt (55).
Caitlin Roberts powered Braden River with a 55. Carly Toscano shot 57, followed by Mariah Courtney (58) and Brittney Walters (61).
