Thunder swimmers post impressive finishes

The Out-of-Door Academy girls swim team beat Venice 87-77 in a developmental dual meet Sept. 9 while the boys fell 93-71.

Kate Patrice led the way for the Lady Thunder, winning the 50-and 100-yard freestyle events. Patrice, along with Imola Csendes, Reece Whatmore and Joie Eckhard, also won the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Caroline Diesel won the 100 breaststroke.

On the boys side, Charles Hayes set a new school record on the 500 freestyle. Zach Szmania broke his own school record, which he set last year, in the 200 individual medley. Laszlo Tengerdy won the 50 and 100 freestyles. Sarsen Whatmore was victorious in the 100 backstroke.

Ryan Appleby, Max Hajduk, Nam Hoang, Thomas Naylor, Robert Peterson, Peter Cornetet, Mikhail Fazlutdinov and Thomas Cramer all posted personal best times in their respective races.
