Deputies found 83 credit cards and 43 gift cards in the vehicle after stopping three men suspected of using counterfeit credit cards.

Wal-Mart Asset Protection, a department in part responsible for investigating external theft and monitoring possible fraud attempts, contacted the Sheriff’s Office after noticing Yosvany Fauret, 30, of Coral Gables, Yadian Pinero, 30, of Naples, and Jonney Infante, 34, of Miami, allegedly using the multiple credit cards to buy gift cards and other merchandise, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.

The three men allegedly purchased some items at the Wal-Mart located on Cattleman Road on Friday, after which deputies stopped them and explained why they were being detained. The men consented to letting the deputies search their car. The deputies found 83 credit cards with numbers that did not match up with the Track Data on the magnetic strip. They also found 43 gift cards with a combined value of $5,500, and random items purchased with the fraudulent cards.

The three men are being charged with trafficking in counterfeit credit cards.

According to a statement from Sheriff Tom Knight, this marks the seventh major credit card fraud case in Sarasota County this year.

“With massive data breaches being reported by major retailers almost weekly, there is little that citizens can do to prevent their personal information from being stolen, but be vigilant and always review your credit card statements closely,” Knight said.
