Obituary: A. Carole Covino

A. Carole Covino, 72, of Longboat Key, died Sept. 5.

Born Dec. 14, 1941, Dr. Covino earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wellesley College, in Wellesley, Mass., and a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Syracuse University, in Syracuse, N.Y.

In her 38-year teaching career, she taught in the Liverpool and North Syracuse school districts and at Syracuse University. She retired in 2005 from Gillette Road Middle in North Syracuse. She loved teaching, cooking, reading and the beach.

Dr. Covino is survived by her sons, Patrick Covino, of East Syracuse, and John Covino Jr., of Binghamton, N.Y.; fiancé Michael Cole, of Syracuse and Longboat Key; and two grandsons.
