After months of boasted financial progress, the Manatee County School District is digging into its pockets again.

At its meeting at 5:45 p.m. Sept. 23, the district is slated to pay $21, 636 to Michael Barfield to cover attorney fees accrued during a law suit against the district.

Barfield said the district failed to oblige to a public records request in March 2013, when he asked for an explanation for removed items on the district's Current/ Closed Cases document. As a result of the Florida Public Records Act, Barfield will be awarded the court costs.

Other agenda items include denying the charter application of Cortez High School and Manatee Y Technological School.
