Sarasota Christian Volleyball 

After dropping the first set, the Sarasota Christian volleyball team defeated Southwest Florida Christian 3-1 in district action Sept. 16.

With the win, the Lady Blazers improved to 11-1 on the season.

Heidi Miller finished with 12 kills and four aces to lead the way for the Lady Blazers. Brianna Eddy added 11 kills and two blocks. Annika Jensen had 10 kills and two aces.

Sarasota Christian returns to action Sept. 25 versus Port Charlotte Community Christian.

+ Cougar annual golf tourney upcoming
Cardinal Mooney will hold its annual golf tournament Oct. 3, at Laurel Oak Country Club in Sarasota.
Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $150 per player and includes golf, lunch, dinner, cocktails, prizes and an auction. Those wishing to only attend the dinner can do so for $50 per person.

Sponsorships ranging from $100 to $2,500 also are available.

+ ODA swimmers continue winning streak
The Out-of-Door Academy boys and girls swim teams continued their winning ways, as both teams posted victories over Northside Christian Sept. 16.

ODA won a combined 15 of 22 events. Charles Hayes won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke. Sarsen Whatmore also was a double winner, capturing the 200 and 500 freestyles. Matthew Leonard won the 100 breaststroke.

On the girls side, Kate Patrice won the 200 individual medley. Joie Eckhard won the 200 and 500 freestyles. Imola Csendes won the 50 freestyle before teaming up with Eckhard, Patrice and Quinn Birmingham for a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Csendes, Eckhard, Patrice and Amber Bond won the 400 freestyle relay.

+ Thunder boys golf swings past Cougars
The Out-of-Door Academy boys golf team edged past Cardinal Mooney 156-158 Sept. 16, at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

Max Coutsolioutsos shot 37 to lead the way for the Thunder. Jon Eichenbaum shot 38 followed by Evan Murphy (40), Francisco Marcano Santos, who had an eagle on the third hole (41) Nick Grano (46) and Josh Silverman (47).

Kyle Jarrett shot 37 to lead the way for Cardinal Mooney. Jake LaMore and Dalton Plattner each shot 39 followed by Harrison Jones (43), Mabry Robinson (46) and Sean McNelis (49).
