Lakewood Ranch resident Maureen “Mo” Flaherty left the new Ranch Lake Plaza Goodwill opening day with an unexpected treasure: an original Alexander Pope 1911 lithograph-printed tin of the “Brook Hill” dog.

Flaherty, who paid $43 for the print, will auction it to help raise medical funds for Safe Haven Animal Rescue, for which she volunteers, and toward the completion of her new book on fostering animals.

The tin will be auctioned April 3 through April 10 on the Braden River antiques Ebay site, listed as the “Brook Hill” Dog by Alexander Hope.

A similar print sold last year for $3,330, Flaherty says.

The print is on display at White Rose Interiors, 8141 Main St., Lakewood Ranch, the home of one of Flaherty’s latest fosters, a 5-month-old Maltese mix now adopted and named Sidney; the puppy is now the store’s mascot.
