Palm-Aire holds Spring Fling
Palm-Aire Country Club held its 25th annual Spring Fling Golf Tournament March 17 and March 19.

The theme for this year’s event, which featured 116 costumed players, was “Once Upon a Time: Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes.” The two-day event featured a costume parade, lunch, golf, dinner, a raffle and awards. Proceeds from the raffle benefited The Campaign for Grade Level Reading.

Winners include:
- Brothers Grimm Flight: Pam Webster, Judy Bickford, Donna Neale and Jimmy Hayes
- Mother Goose Flight: Linda Miller, Debbie Stehle, Patty Stehle and Sally Read
- Aesop’s Fables Flight: Sherri Patchen, Tracy Graham, Lola White and Pauline Bennett
- Hans Christian Andersen Flight: Verna Reber, Anne Pistilli, Linda Kitz and Sandy Plette

Braden River sails past Bayshore
The Braden River High softball team rolled to a 17-1 victory against Bayshore March 26.

Zaire Yancy earned the win on the mound for the Lady Pirates, allowing one run while striking out five in four innings. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBIs.

Kinsey Goelz also went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and six RBIs. Lexie Phelps went 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored.

Lakewood extends winning streak
The Lakewood Ranch softball team earned its fifth-consecutive victory with a 14-2 five-inning district victory against Venice March 24.

Kenzie Meyer went 4-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and five RBIs to lead the way for the Lady Mustangs at the plate.
