A donation for $1,500 will go toward the purchase of cribs for the Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center shelter.

The funds were donated by Direct Energy in person to SPARCC on Thursday in the form of a large check. Five new cribs will be purchased and used in the emergency shelter that serves victims of domestic violence. Along with the check Direct Energy provided boxes of diapers and new crib bedding to be used in the shelter and programs SPARCC offers.

A Facebook post requesting by SPARCC in need of cribs prompted Direct Energy to give back and instantly responded promising the full amount needed to purchase the cribs. SPARCC is a non-profit agency that is a state-certified center for domestic violence and sexual assault services for Sarasota and DeSoto Counties.
