Obituary: Doris Lyons

Doris Lyons, 82, of Longboat Key and Indianapolis, Ind., died April 15.

Born Sept. 11, 1932, in Indianapolis, she graduated in 1950 from Broad Ripple High School and in 1954 from Butler University with academic honors as a member of Scarlet Quill and Sigma Tau Delta, among others. At Butler, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and an active alumnus. 

Her family business was Indianapolis-based Graham Electronics.

Mrs. Lyons belonged to Hillcrest Country Club and the Riviera Club, in Indianapolis, and Bird Key Yacht Club and the Longboat Key Club. She was an avid gardener, golfer and bridge player who loved swimming and the beach and was a loyal friend to many.

Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, William Lyons, in 2008. She is survived by daughters Sandra Freije, Cynthia Schrader and Wendy Goodwin; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gordon Graham.

A service was held Monday, in Indianapolis.
