+ Film fest credits roll
The 17th annual Sarasota Film Festival closed last weekend. Running from April 10 through 19, the 10 days of films and events brought some of independent cinema’s finest directors, actors and films to Sarasota.

The programming team, led by Michael Dunaway, offered a stacked festival of more than 200 diverse feature films and shorts.

Below are the winners of the festival’s various juried and audience awards:

+ Sculpture celebration
International Sculpture Day is Friday, and the Sarasota Sculpture Center, formerly the Sarasota Season of Sculpture, is celebrating. The organization is presenting a father-and-son art show combining some of the late John Chamberlain’s unseen work with his son, Duncan’s, latest pieces.

From 4 p.m. to sunset April 24 and 25 at 7036 Clark Road, the Sarasota art world will be the first to enjoy sculptor John Chamberlain’s two never-before-exhibited works, “Elitist Provocateur” and “Wickets: A 10 Piece Assemblage.” In a career that spanned more than 50 years, Chamberlain’s sculptures have been shown at the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

In addition, Duncan Chamberlain will exhibit his aptly title series, “Like Father, Like Son.”
