Lady Mustangs win regional crown

The Lakewood Ranch High girls track team scored 85.50 points to win the Class 3A-Region 3 meet April 23, at Charlotte High.

The Lakewood Ranch High girls track team scored 85.50 points to win the Class 3A-Region 3 meet April 23, at Charlotte High. 

The Lady Mustangs used their depth in all facets of the competition to breeze past regional runner-up Naples (59 points). 

Talia Falco cleared 5 feet, 6 inches to win the high jump and advance to next weekend’s Class 3A state meet. She also finished second in the triple jump (39-06). 

The top four finishers in each event earned a berth in the state meet, which will be held May 2, in Tallahassee.
