3:34 p.m. — 10200 block of Silverado Circle
Scheme to Defraud: A man answered an email he believed was from his neighbor, claiming that she lost her wallet in Turkey and needed $1,800. He could not locate the neighbor and sent the money to the individual claiming to be the neighbor. After he received another email seeking more money, he asked the alleged neighbor some personal questions that were not answered correctly and realized he had been scammed.
July 23
9:22 a.m. — 6500 block of 67th Court East
Criminal Mischief: A man returned from vacation and discovered what looked like a BB pellet dent on his vehicle door the next day. He said the night before, he heard what sounded like a BB gun firing. His neighbor told him that he fired his BB gun that night but said the damage had been done days earlier. The man does not know if his neighbor caused the damage. The families have experienced ongoing conflict as the result of a dog bite.

3:29 a.m. — 3300 block of 53rd Avenue East
Battery: A man and woman argued after she refused to lend him money. She said that he threw garbage at her before leaving on his bicycle. The woman appeared apprehensive about pressing charges against him, but police decided to charge him with simple battery.

11 a.m. — 8300 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard
Theft: A man’s girlfriend broke up with him just after he had just returned to his hospital room after surgery. She left the hospital with his gold chain, which she gave him as a gift two years ago. The man said he wants to press charges.

4:16 p.m. — 7200 block of 55th Avenue East
Purse Snatching: A man grabbed a woman’s purse out of her shopping cart as she returned the cart to the rack. The woman struggled to pull the purse away, but the strap broke, and the man fled to his vehicle with the purse. She tried to block his path by standing in front of his vehicle, but he backed out of the parking lot and headed east on State Road 70.
July 27
2:55 p.m. — 8100 block of Lone Tree Glen
Suspicious Incident: An unknown person called a man claiming to represent the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. The caller said that the man and his wife have arrest warrants because they did not report for jury duty. The man immediately called the Sheriff’s Office to report it as a scam.
July 27
10:33 p.m. — 7000 block of 74th Street Circle East
Criminal Mischief: Police determined that two juveniles may have been responsible for starting a trash can fire.
July 28
1:42 p.m. — 6300 block of State Road 64 East
Trespass Warning: A restaurant manager asked that a woman who was hanging out in front asking customers for money be trespassed from the property. She had previously given the woman until 1 p.m. to leave because she said someone was going to pick her up. The woman then refused to leave, insisting that she was a customer. Police trespassed the woman and told her she will be arrested if she returns.
