Wednesday, Aug. 19
End of the Summer Bash
Runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Sahib Shrine Center, 600 Beneva Road. Join the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce for the End of the Summer Bash at Prime Time with more than 100 exhibitors. Attendees can grow business contacts while enjoying music, food and a cash bar. Admission is free for members and non-members. Call 955-8187.

Shark Days
Times vary by day at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aqaurium, 1600 Ken Thompson Parkway. Catch the tail end of Shark Days at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium. Dive into the science behind some of the ocean’s most fascinating fishes with family-friendly activities. Admission is free with regular paid admission and free for Mote members. Call 388-4441.

Friday, Aug. 14
VJ Day 70th Anniversary Opening Ceremony
Starts at 11 a.m. at the Unconditional Surrender statue at the bayfront. Join the Unconditional Surrender Veterans Group to honor the legacy of the men and women of America’s Greatest Generation on National Spirit of ’45 Day. The event is sponsored by the Unconditional Surrender Veterans Group. Visit experiencegoodwill.org.

Saturday, August 15
Tour de SRQ: Brunch Edition
Runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a pick-up location at Clasico Café Bar, 1341 Main St. Tour de SRQ Brunch Edition will feature favorite downtown Sarasota brunch spots. Participants will sample the Sarasota’s best bloody mary’s, mimosas and brunch favorites while being transported via SRQ Trolley. Tickets are $105 per person. Visit tourdesrq.com.

Tuxedo Junction
Runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Robarts Arena, 3000 Ringling Blvd. Veterans will be honored with 1940s-themed dinner and entertainment. Any veterans who served during World War II are welcome to register and dine for free. Additional guests are $25 per seat. Members of the community are invited to enjoy the entertainment for free from the arena bleachers. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Visit experiencegoodwill.org.

Sunday, Aug. 16
VJ Day 70th Anniversary Memorial Service
Starts at 6 p.m. at Patriot Plaza at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72. All are welcome to attend a memorial service and presentation of the wreath to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and to those who have died since Aug.14, 1945. Admission is free.
