Zola Gold, 88, of Longboat Key and Pittsburgh, died Aug. 10.

Mr. Gold grew up Squirrel Hill, Pa. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he majored in business, under the G.I. Bill. He began a career in insurance and became the top broker in the country for Unum Insurance Co. for several years of his career.

Although he enjoyed success in the insurance industry, Mr. Gold placed the greatest value on his relationships with family and friends. 

Mr. Gold is survived by his wife, Steffi; children,Susah Farber and Nancy Cohen; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held Aug. 12.
