Families of the Temple Emanu-El congregation were invited to the annual picnic to enjoy an evening of games, food and activities Saturday. Families enjoyed a water slide, face painting, ice cream truck and playground. Rabbi Brenner Glickman performed a Havdalah ceremony that separates the Sabbath from the rest of the week.
Among the activities for children was a demonstration by Sarasota Parkour Facility that included a volt wall for children to practice jumping, climbing and clearing as a hurdle. Instructors Josh Hill and Jesse Knapko guided children learning the basics to parkour, a discipline that requires participants to move swiftly through through obstacles by jumping, climbing and running.
